How to Fix HMS 0300-0A00-0001-0003: Filament Cutter Blade Jam
Bambu Lab HMS error code 0300-0A00-0001-0003 is a filament cutter blade jam error within the 0300-0A00 toolhead cutter subgroup. This code indicates the cutter blade has become physically obstructed mid-stroke — it cannot complete the cutting motion and is stuck in a position between open and closed.
What the Error Means
A mid-stroke jam is the most mechanically demanding of the cutter error variants because the blade is neither fully extended nor fully retracted, leaving it in a state where neither filament loading nor blade retraction can proceed normally. Common causes include a tough filament material (such as fiber-reinforced or abrasive filament) that overwhelmed the cutter blade, a significantly worn or chipped blade, an oversized filament diameter preventing proper cutter engagement, or foreign material in the cutting channel.
Step-by-Step Fix
- Power off the printer. Attempting to clear a blade jam while powered on risks the motor driving the blade harder into the obstruction.
- Apply good lighting to the toolhead cutter area. The blade should be partially visible in the cutting slot.
- Attempt to gently push the blade back to the open (home) position using a thin, non-conductive tool such as a toothpick or the tip of tweezers. Do not use metal tools that could damage the blade edge.
- If the blade is resisting, check for a filament fragment wedged between blade and housing. Remove with fine tweezers before attempting to retract the blade.
- Once freed, inspect the blade edge for chipping or deformation. A compromised blade will jam again — plan a replacement.
- Power on and test the cutter by running a filament change cycle. Confirm the blade strokes cleanly.
- If using a filament type known to be tough on cutters (carbon fiber, glass fiber blends), consider lubricating the cutter channel or reducing the filament loading speed.
Parts Required
- Replacement cutter blade assembly
- Fine-tipped tweezers and a thin probe tool (non-metallic preferred)
