How to Fix HMS 0300-0A00-0001-0002: Filament Cutter Not Returning to Home

Bambu Lab HMS error code 0300-0A00-0001-0002 is a filament cutter home-position fault. Within the 0300-0A00 cutter subgroup, suffix 0001-0002 distinguishes this from a general cut-cycle failure — specifically, the cutter blade completed or attempted a cut but did not return to its standby (home) position within the expected time.

What the Error Means

After every cut operation, the cutter blade must fully retract to its home position to allow filament to pass freely through the toolhead. If the blade is stuck in a partially extended position, subsequent filament loading or printing operations can be impaired. This condition is most often caused by a filament stub caught between the blade and the housing after an incomplete cut, a worn blade with burrs that catch on the housing, or a cutter return spring that has lost tension or broken.

Step-by-Step Fix

  1. Power off the printer immediately to prevent the cutter motor from straining against the obstruction.
  2. Carefully inspect the cutter slot in the toolhead with good lighting and a flashlight if needed. Look for a short filament stub or fragment wedged between the blade and housing.
  3. Use fine-tipped tweezers to remove any lodged material. Work with the blade’s natural geometry — do not pry across the blade.
  4. Once clear, attempt to manually push or slide the blade back toward its home position if the printer design allows manual actuation.
  5. Inspect the cutter blade edge for burrs, nicks, or deformation that might cause it to catch on the housing walls during retraction.
  6. Power on and run the printer’s diagnostic cutter test or a filament unload cycle to see if the blade now homes correctly.
  7. If the blade homes correctly but the error recurs during printing, replace the blade assembly — a worn blade repeatedly creates poor cuts and stubs.

Parts Required

  • Filament cutter blade or cutter assembly (Bambu Lab model-specific)
  • Fine-tipped tweezers

If the blade is clear of obstruction but still will not home, contact Bambu Lab support to investigate the return mechanism or motor driver.
