How to Fix HMS 0300-0200-0001-0007: Nozzle Temperature Abnormal Drop

Bambu Lab HMS error code 0300-0200-0001-0007 indicates an abnormal temperature drop was detected at the nozzle during an active print job. The firmware monitors the hotend temperature continuously and triggers this code when the temperature falls significantly below the target setpoint in a short period without a commanded cooldown.

What the Error Means

Within the 0300-0200 nozzle thermal subgroup, suffix 0001-0007 signals a sudden unintended temperature loss rather than a slow timeout. This pattern typically suggests an intermittent heater cartridge failure (the cartridge cuts out momentarily), a loose heater cartridge wire that loses contact under vibration, or the part cooling fan blowing directly onto an uninsulated heater block. It can also indicate a power supply struggling under combined load from the heated bed and hotend simultaneously.

Step-by-Step Fix

  1. Power off the printer and cool the hotend before inspection.
  2. Check whether the silicone thermal sock is present on the heater block. A missing sock allows part cooling airflow to rapidly cool the block during printing. Replace it if absent.
  3. Inspect the heater cartridge connector at the toolhead PCB for looseness. Apply gentle pressure to check if the connection is secure. Reseat if there is any play.
  4. Run a preheat-only test (no print, no part cooling fans active) and watch the temperature graph for stability. If the temperature is stable without active cooling, the sock is likely the culprit.
  5. Check the heater cartridge resistance: disconnect the cartridge and measure with a multimeter. Values far above the nominal 14–15 Ω for a 24 V / 40 W cartridge indicate degradation.
  6. Inspect the printer’s power supply output under load. If the voltage drops below specification when both the bed and hotend are active, the PSU may need replacement.
  7. Replace the heater cartridge if resistance readings are abnormal and retest under normal printing conditions.

Parts Required

  • Silicone heater block sock
  • Heater cartridge (24 V / 40 W, model-appropriate)
  • Multimeter
  • Toolhead hex driver set

If none of these steps clear the error, reach out to Bambu Lab support — intermittent PSU faults or mainboard relay issues can produce this behavior.
