How to Fix HMS 0300-0200-0001-0006: Nozzle Heating Timeout Error
Bambu Lab HMS error code 0300-0200-0001-0006 is a nozzle heating timeout fault. The printer commanded the hotend to heat to a target temperature, but the nozzle did not reach that temperature within the allowed time window, causing the printer to abort as a safety precaution.
What the Error Means
Within the 0300-0200 hotend thermal subgroup, suffix 0001-0006 indicates a timeout during heating — the heater is energized but temperature rise is insufficient. This typically points to a degraded heater cartridge delivering less wattage than expected, a loose or corroded power connection at the cartridge, or in some cases a thermistor misread that makes the block appear cooler than it actually is. Very cold ambient environments can also contribute to slower-than-expected heating rates.
Step-by-Step Fix
- Power off the printer and let the hotend cool before touching any components.
- Check the ambient temperature. In environments below 15 °C, the hotend may struggle to heat quickly — particularly for high-temperature materials like ABS or ASA targeting 250 °C or above.
- Inspect the heater cartridge wiring. Look for loose connections at the cartridge tail and at the toolhead PCB connector. Wiggling a cold connection here can restore contact and clear the fault.
- Reseat the heater cartridge connector on the toolhead PCB, ensuring it clicks fully into place.
- Measure the heater cartridge resistance with a multimeter: a 24 V / 40 W cartridge should read approximately 14–15 Ω. A reading significantly higher indicates increased internal resistance (degradation), and the cartridge should be replaced.
- Confirm the thermistor is correctly positioned in the heater block — a displaced thermistor reads ambient rather than block temperature, making heat-up appear to stall.
- Replace the heater cartridge if resistance is out of spec and retest.
Parts Required
- Heater cartridge (24 V / 40 W, or the wattage specified for your Bambu Lab model)
- Multimeter
- Hex drivers for toolhead access
If the timeout persists after cartridge replacement and the thermistor is confirmed healthy, contact Bambu Lab support to check for a mainboard power delivery issue.
